If the shoe fits the bill it changes your world ask Cinderella or well any girl, it’s the shoe that can make or break the outfit. As a working women and a young mom who spends most of her time outside running from one meeting to another, picking baby, groceries meeting my friends directly after office I spend most of my time in outside/office shoes.
And If you know me then you know already that I am a flat shoe proponent. Flat shoes have made their very successful and rebellious debut in Cannes-2016 (thanks to powerful actors like Julia Roberts, Emily Blunt and Kristen Stewart) So flat shoes are suddenly fashionable and girls out there are not at all afraid to ditch their heels in the favor of stylish comfort.
I need my shoes to be comfortable yet stylish so I am always in market for finding that perfect shoe that can help me in striking balance between comfort and style. And as any girl will tell you bad shoe is ‘Achilles heels’ literally.
So when I bumped into this pink ballerina ballet shoe Tieks shoe by Gavrieli (Thanks to Oprah), I had to buy it (Little reluctantly, because frankly speaking the price point was not agreeing with me for a ballet flat) It was one of the very first items that I bought postpartum and when I wore it first day I was not impressed, I loved the style and stitching and soft leather but I thought the shoe bit me , I wrote to the customer care got a replacement and gave it a chance hence beginning my journey to being a Tieks little foot soldier, I sell them to everyone who cares to listen about comfort-stylish shoe.
Here I am going to review the shoe, so that it can help you in making the decision
Design/Style-Tieks are ballet shoes made from Italian leather, hand stitched (You can see the hand stitching vividly in the soles and I adore it). They are soft and are very minimalist in design. It’s the subtlety of the design that bowled me over when I opened my packet. All the shoes will have blue sole that creates a good contrast for some colors (NOT for all, I would not buy golden and blue for sure). But if you pick the color cautiously you can pick a rocking ballet
For design I give Tieks 8 on 10.
Comfort: This is the entire USP of these shoes and these are the most comfortable ballet flats I have ever worn. I have practically worn these daily. It took me some time to figure out my size and initial cutting in days were little uncomfortable but then I found I am wearing wrong size (Post pregnancy my shoe size went up by half! what did I know ha), I immediately exchanged and I have been prancing like ballerina since that day. It has cushioned back that many ballet flats out there don’t have and it’s very comfortable to trot in these 8 hours a day.
For comfort I give Tieks 10 on 10
Ease of carrying/Packing – Well most of the ballet flats can be rolled into a tiny packet so it’s not exactly the key differentiation here, but the blue box that the shoe came in is gorgeous, if you are buying it as a gift it does not need gift wrapping as the box itself is gorgeous. I am still hanging on to mine.
For this I give Tieks 8 out of 10
Durability- I bought my first pair in November 2015 and I have worn it through Seattle rains and my shoes still look shiny with little bit of wiping out.
The sole also looks fine (Most of the times my flats take hit in the sole and it just ruins the shoe for me) I would give Tieks 9 on 10 for durability.
Customer Experience-Shipping is free, they shipped fast, I got my pair the second day. When I sent emails about the fitting issues they instantly offered replacement and they reply instantly. For me ‘someone is listening and paying attention’ is definitely an icing on the cake.
For customer experience i will give Tieks 10 on 10.
Outfit matching- This will get little tricky, as being flats you will have to be little cautious about your pants hem length and dress lengths. For me this was easy I like my pants/denims to have ankle length as I think it goes with heels and flats both, I generally buy petites in dresses and it hits knees so it's super easy to pull flats with that length.
For blue colored sole I was little reluctant initially to match these shoes with my office trousers but trust me they look wonderful and these are my go-to office shoes now.
I have started many stylish women in office sporting Tieks and it has become a great ice breaker for me lately: D
Still i give it 7 out of 10 as it takes some effort to mix and match these shoes.
Hope that helps you to choose, Frankly speaking the Tieks buy has been the best 200 dollar I have ever spent as a new mum, I love these shoes and I already have one more coming in the mail (Fuchsia one, don’t tell my husband :D)
Today i am styling my pink ballerina for a weekend look with a casual shorts from Banana republic, Denim Swing tee from Anthropologie and Kate spade Marsala bag that's on sale yay!
