Finally we have started playing peekaboo with the summer, temperatures are dropping, we are seeing those dark clouds and soon the Northwest will be a sea of trench coats and Ugg boots (I am not complaining).I have also decided to stop clutching the summer like old Nan's pearls and love the fall.
I am loving that nip in the air, soon theater and indoor concert season will peak (yay) and PSL-pumpkin spice latte is already on the menu.
In Seattle last weekend of September means chasing the remaining bit of summer, doing your last bit of hiking, swimming, golfing and all outdoorsy stuff because you don’t know which weekend you will see a downpour spoiling your plan. That’s why this labor day long weekend we decided to chase some sunshine by taking a road trip to Welches, Oregon. We booked a wonderful resort-Resort at the mountain and braved 4 hour ride with our little monster and his diaper bag: D. Welches was more like fast forward to full on fall season, it was cold in the morning and evening and pleasant at the daytime. I love such weather, it’s warm, cozy and it’s fashionably very stimulating.
Hubby spent most of the time golfing and as promised he lugged baby piggie with him, for me that meant trips to the spa and walk around the wonderful resort property.Resort styling has its own rules, you can be dressy but you gotta be relaxed too, something that is fun flirty yet classy and I normally lean on neutral shades during such times.
It’s no news that I love my dresses and I will try my level best to pull dresses even when it’s little cold, so here are my easy tips fall dress-dressing:
Shirt dresses/full sleeves dresses are here to stay, stock them.(Banana republic has some awesome full sleeves frilly dresses this fall, go check)
Layer up- stock those cardigans and teeny weeny shrugs, coats and bomber jackets
Replace slings with stylish pumps or invest in some ankle booties
Invest in a nude colored/camel colored bag now (Because come October all catalogs will have camel shades selling like hot cakes, this shade never goes out of style for fall)
Check the perfect fall dress with sleeve that I wore this weekend.
This lovely dress is banana republic's asymmetrical pleat dress, I love the print and frilly flirty look on this one.The top of the dress is NOT at all true to the size, its big and I had to size down just for the top, thankfully bottom still worked for me.The dress has solid lining inside and that makes it good for cooler weather too.The fabric is gorgeous and the print reminds me of the 'ink on paper news paper' style' print and I really dig it.
I contrasted the dress with my J crew Eelsie Suede D'orsay pumps , these are high heels but they wonderfully add that glamour and color to the overcast fall day and relatively neutral palettes of dress, these are on the verge of becoming my new office go-to shoes this fall.
For the bag I picked my latest favorite Tory Britten bag to complete the look. When piggie is with papa i normally have luxury of flaunting my clutches , else life is all about over sized baby diaper bags.I love the pastel color of this bag and as fall peaks such shades take front row in the fashion world.
The dress and the pump both are on labor day sale and handbag is definitely an investment worthy item, go check.
Doctor who fan in me could not resist this telephone booth.
